FAQs

General

Is Sequence Free?

You can use Sequence completely for free, limited to a single sequence. Subscribe to Sequence Unlimited to remove this limit and unlock more customization options.

Is there a one-time purchase option?

Yes!

Is Sequence only for people with ADHD?

No! While Sequence was designed by someone with ADHD, it's flexible enough to be useful to anyone who wants to add a bit more structure to their day.

I found a bug!

If something isn't working quite right, please send an email to sequence-bugs@detinu.com with as much detail as you can provide. There's a shortcut for this in the app's settings as well!

Schedules

What does "scheduled" mean?

For sequences that you want to complete on a regular basis, you can mark it as "scheduled". This will make it appear on the "Today" tab when it needs to be completed, and optionally send a notification when it's time to start it. It can always be accessed from the "All" screen, even on days it is not scheduled for.

Do I need to schedule a sequence for a specific time?

Nope! Mark a schedule as "Anytime" and it will appear on the specified days in its own "Anytime" section.

What's the difference between "Start at" and "End by"?

A sequence can be scheduled to "Start at" or "End by" a certain time. Use "Start at" when you want to begin the sequence at the same time, every time, and "End by" when you want to end the sequence by a certain time. For example, a sequence for running a weekly meeting might be a "Start at" sequence, and a morning routine might be an "End by" sequence.

If you have notifications enabled for your sequence, "End by" sequences will send separate notifications for each run level's ideal start time, allowing you to start when you are ready and not miss the deadline.

What's the difference between "Daily" and "Weekly"?

Sequences scheduled for "Daily" occurrence will appear on "Today" the specified number of days after they are completed. They will continue to rollover onto the next day until they are completed again.

Sequences scheduled for "Weekly" occurrence will appear on "Today" only on the weekdays specified. If they are not completed on that day, they will not be shown on "Today" until the next specified weekday.

Notifications

Does Sequence support voice/text-to-speech notifications?

Yes! To enable them, navigate to the app settings (the button in the top left), then Configure Notifications → Voice Notifications.

Why does the notification voice sound worse than Siri?

Unfortunately Apple only provides access to more primitive voices to third-party developers. As soon as that changes Sequence will be updated to include the higher-quality voices!

Why is there no sound?

Step alert sounds are produced by notifications. If you're not hearing them, make sure that:

  • You have allowed notification sounds for Sequence in the system settings
  • Your phone is not on silent/vibrate
  • Your phone is not in Do Not Disturb or another focus mode
  • Your ringtone volume is sufficiently loud
